Xarxa Interreligiosa per la Pau
The Interreligious Network for Peace (XIP) is an associative initiative founded in 2021 — jointly promoted and coordinated by Justícia i Pau Barcelona and AUDIR (UNESCO Association for Interreligious and Interconvictional Dialogue) — dedicated to highlighting the relevance of dialogue and joint commitment to peace within a democratic and plural society. Its mission is to foster the active presence and cooperation of agents and entities representing different religions and convictions present in Catalan society, defending the right to freedom of religion and conscience.
Its vision is based on:
- Promoting the public presence of communities through the dissemination of the country’s religious and spiritual reality, drawing on the background and previous experience of the Teixint Xarxes campaign.
- Defending, from democratic values and a culture of peace, the exercise of the right to Religious Freedom as a fundamental right of all people, fostering coexistence and mutual respect.
- Recognising the richness of diversity in Catalonia and encouraging the joint work of traditions to translate into constructive contributions to society, with a particular focus on promoting the culture of peace and fraternity.
Its objectives are:
- To raise awareness, through its activities and in all its dimensions, of the role and prominence of religious and spiritual life in Catalan society, constantly promoting interreligious and interconvictional dialogue.
- To give voice to representatives and members of the confessions, entities, institutions, and religious traditions present in Catalonia in order to share their specific contributions to peace.
- To highlight the social impact of religions in favour of the common good, the peaceful resolution of conflicts, coexistence, and understanding among different sensibilities.
- To provide information and knowledge among individuals, entities, and religious associations, within these groups and in areas such as educational centres, public institutions, and society in general.
- To raise awareness of the current religious reality of Catalonia by promoting joint initiatives, actions, and campaigns through the Grups de Diàleg Interreligiós de Barcelona and the Xarxa Catalana d’Entitats de Diàleg Interreligiós.
