On Thursday, May 14, the Blanquerna Observatory on Media, Religion and Culture hosted the two-day international symposium “Entangled Futures: Ethical, Social, and Philosophical Perspectives on Digitalization and Ecology”, organised jointly with the ZRS Koper Institute for Philosophical and Religious Studies in Slovenia, and supported by the DRIVEN project led by Dr Victoria dos Santos (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, MSCA). Prof. Dr Miriam Diez Bosch, director of the Blanquerna Observatory, continued the event at the rectorate of Universitat Ramon Llull together with Vice-Rector Dr Jordi Teixidó i Closa.
The event brought together professors and researchers from interdisciplinary fields including philosophy, theology, media studies, sociology, engineering and computer science. Its main objective was to reflect on and discuss the emerging ethical challenges posed by the digital and ecological transition shaping the contemporary world.
The importance of this debate lies in the fact that these transitions are reshaping and impacting societies, economies and even the very understanding of what it means to be “human”, raising questions that deserve to be acknowledged and discussed.
