ANNA LINDH FOUNDATION

The Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF) is an international organization working from the Mediterranean to promote intercultural and civil society dialogue in the face of growing mistrust and polarization.

The foundation was founded in 2004, their headquarters, in Alexandria, were inaugurated in 2005. This makes ALF the first common institution for dialogue co-created by the European Union and its Mediterranean Partner countries. It was created following the initiative of the President of the European Commission Romano Prodi: “to take action to restart dialogue and defuse the risk of a clash of civilizations”.

ALF focuses its intercultural action around three pillars:

  1. Empowering young voices
  2. Influencing policymakers
  3. Building a movement for dialogue and exchange in the face of growing mistrust and polarization among societies

They have networks in: Albania, Algeria, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Mauritania, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Syria, Tunisia and Türkiye.
