Anna Mateo, a first-year PhD student at the Blanquerna School of Communication and International Relations (with her dissertation supervised by the Director of the Obs, Dr. Miriam Diez), took part in the ENGAGE.EU programme “Building Fair AI,” held in Sofia, Bulgaria, from February 5 to 7, 2026.
During the event, she presented her preliminary research entitled “The Use of Christian Nationalism in United States Politics and AI,” in which she analyses the intersections between religious discourse, national identity, and political communication in the North American context, particularly in an era marked by artificial intelligence and media virality. The ENGAGE.EU programme brought together a wide range of analytical proposals, among which contributions from other members of the Universitat Ramon Llull were also highlighted, including that of PhD candidate David Falcón (La Salle) and PhD candidates Nohaila El Mouden and Lusiné Minasyán (ESADE).
