Anna Mateo, PhD candidate at the Blanquerna-URL School of Communication and International Relations, participated as a speaker at the 4th World Conference for Religious Dialogue and Cooperation, held from 22 to 26 June 2026 in Skopje (North Macedonia). Her presentation took place online as part of the conference’s scientific programme, organised by the Faculty of Philosophy of Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, in collaboration with the UNESCO Chair for Intercultural Studies and Research.
This year’s conference, dedicated to the theme “Religion as a Weapon of War: in the Past, Present and Future”, brought together international researchers and specialists from the fields of communication, political science, sociology of religion, theology and philosophy to reflect on the role of religion in contemporary conflicts and in the construction of public discourse.
Anna Mateo’s participation is part of her doctoral research on Christian Nationalism in the United States as a tool of political communication, a dissertation supervised by the Director of the Observatory, Dr Miriam Diez. Her research analyses the instrumentalisation of religious language in the construction of political legitimacy and collective identities.
