Blanquerna hosted the presentation of the eighth report of the Advisory Council for Religious Diversity (Department of Justice and Democratic Quality of the Government of Catalonia), entitled “The Transmission of Spiritual and Religious Wisdom Today.”
The event, held at the Library of the Blanquerna School of Communication and International Relations, was chaired by the Minister of Justice and Democratic Quality, Ramon Espadaler. Also participating were the Director General for Religious Affairs, Ramon Bassas; the President of the Advisory Council, Dr. Francesc Torralba; and Dr. Lena de Botton, who presented the report’s main contents.
The report examines how the weakening of traditional spaces for transmission (family, school, and religious communities) coincides with the rise of digital channels, and proposes a model of transmission based on dialogue, critical thinking, and freedom of conscience. It highlights the value of spiritual and religious traditions, justice, solidarity, compassion, and respect for diversity, while advocating a critical review of exclusionary practices. It also warns about the risks of digital misinformation, promoting media literacy and an “inclusive secularism” that fosters social dialogue. In addition, the report includes an appendix with educational resources on religiosity and spirituality.
