CENTRE FOR CONTEMPORARY RELIGION
The Centre for Contemporary Religion (CCR) at Aarhus University, Denmark, collects, analyses and disseminates knowledge on contemporary religion and religiosity, both nationally (in particular) and internationally.
They focus their research on:
- How living religion manifests itself in multiple ways to different religions and across or outside institutional boundaries. This is reflected in religious practice and theological reflections in discourses on authority and truth.
- Tradition and transformation as important concepts for contemporary society. The centre prioritises empirical research and documentation, as well as theoretical and methodological approaches to this subject.
The centre is directed by Henrik Reintoft Christensen and results from a collaboration between researchers in religion and theology at the School of Culture and Society of the Faculty of Arts, Aarhus University. In addition, they maintain contact with other research environments of this University, as well as with other Danish and international universities.
In addition to its core research, the centre also carries out a large number of research communication tasks through contact with the media and upper secondary schools, among others. The CCR publishes research articles and books on contemporary religion and produces electronic resources such as the e-yearbook on religion and other matters.
