Dr Daniel Esparza gives a masterclass at PUCP

The Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) invited Professor Dr Daniel Esparza, member of the Blanquerna Observatory, to give a masterclass at the school of philosophy on Tuesday 23 April, as part of the course La Máquina Antropológica (The Anthropological Machine) taught by Professor Víctor J. Krebs.

Professor Esparza gave a lecture based on his work Perdonar al Toro (Pardon to the Bull) – a text published in the journal Lógoi in 2020. Professor Esparza’s paper suggests that the pardon granted to the bull is a kind of reverse sacrificial action in which man acknowledges, if not his continuity with the “animal darkness” referred to by Bataille, at least his being-on-the-limit of the boundary that separates (and therefore unites) animality and humanity.
