Dr Daniel Esparza speaks in Bilbao

Dr Daniel Esparza, a member of the Observatori Blanquerna, gave a talk entitled “virtue / virtual” on ethics and artificial intelligence, as part of an initiative by the Bishopric of Bilbao, which includes an open proposal for a decalogue for the ethical use of AI in the media. Professor Esparza explained that treating AI with respect opens up a necessary space of conscience that sets limits to the objectification and instrumentalisation of the world – and therefore to the instrumentalisation and quantification of a medium’s readership. Artificial intelligences (like readers) are neither ciphers, nor inert objects, nor digital slaves. This in the context of a discussion session on the elaboration of a decalogue for the ethical use of AI in the media. The meeting took place on 27 February, from 11.00 to 13.00, in the Barria building of the Diocese, Plaza Nueva, 4, Bilbao.
