The Heritage and Futures project, coordinated by Dr. Lana Kazkaz through the Blanquerna Observatory on Media, Religion and Culture, has been awarded a grant by the Barcelona City Council to develop a new edition throughout 2026. The project will feature a series of intergenerational conversations held between April and December at various venues across Barcelona.
Heritage and Futures promotes dialogue between younger and older people from diverse religious and cultural traditions, encouraging reflection on memory, beliefs, and coexistence. The initiative seeks to recover life experiences that often remain unheard while creating spaces for listening, exchange, and mutual learning.
The project was launched during the previous academic year with an inaugural conversation between a 103-year-old participant from the Protestant tradition and a 30-year-old woman, highlighting the value of intergenerational dialogue as a means of preserving memory and strengthening social cohesion. This new edition will consolidate the initiative and expand its reach, with the long-term goal of extending it to other neighbourhoods and localities.
