Dr. Lana Kazkaz represented the Blanquerna Observatory at the “1st ReD Global (EMJM) International Conference: Interdisciplinary Think Tank on Religious Diversity and Globalisation” in Coimbra, Portugal, where she presented her latest research on religious hate speech and misinformation in post-2024 Syrian media.
Her presentation raised key questions about the role of artificial intelligence in conflict settings: How can a fake video trigger real-world violence? Who is accountable when AI-generated content causes harm? And how quickly can misinformation escalate into tragedy?
Dr. Kazkaz also discussed how these narratives spread across regions and contributed to heightened tensions and shifting public perceptions during a critical period in Syria.
