DUBLIN CITY INTERFAITH FORUM (DCIF)

The Dublin City Interfaith Forum (DCIF) is a network of people from a wide variety of religious communities in the Irish city. They seek to raise awareness of diversity of faith and culture through interfaith dialogue and cooperation, all from the vision of a society based on mutual respect, cooperation and understanding driven by progressive pluralism and unity around Ireland and the world.

The group was established in 2012 with the aim of providing a space and opportunity to enable religious communities to build relationships with Dublin City Communities, statutory and voluntary organizations and the residents of Dublin City. The Forum comprises the following faiths: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Bahá’í, Hinduism, Sikhism and Buddhism.

Their mission:

To build understanding, respect and cooperation among the different religious denominations and faith groups in their local community, as well as in their nation and the world.

Their aims:

  • Support and strengthen the contributions of all faith communities in Dublin.
  • Educate and encourage people of all faiths to engage in dialogue, strategy and action.
  • Promote and support the participation of third countries in the civic, community and public life of the city
  • Help create a fully integrated city
  • Challenging injustice and discrimination of all kinds

Their values:

The basic principles of the Forum recognize that, although its participating members come from different religious groups, what unites them is the common identity of humanity and the principles shared among the various faiths.

  • Service: the main focus among the different denominations present in the group is to serve others
  • Interfaith: they are enriched by the diversity of faiths present in the group
  • Volunteering: volunteers are the heart of the Forum, allowing people from different backgrounds and traditions to work united
  • Collaboration: they foster community collaborations and partnerships to help the people they serve
  • Integrity: they promote excellence at all levels within the organization to be prudent, transparent and accountable in the use of their funds
