The Blanquerna Observatory of Communication, Religion and Culture is an interdisciplinary space for research and dissemination of activities in the field that links communication with the religious phenomenon.
On one hand, the Observatory follows trends regarding religious information, the presence of religion in the mass media and, especially, in new technologies and the relationship between popular culture and the spiritual and social aspects of current society.
On the other hand, the Observatory has created the first Postgraduate in Institutional Communication and Religion in the Digital Age. Our purpose is training professionals to improve the communication and image of ecclesial entities. It is required to recognize the religious fact and its implication in the Media, whist identifying the keys of corporate communication due to apply them into the religious environment.
We participate in activities that link the religious aspect with social cohesion, freedom of expression and the naturalization of the religious fact in increasingly complex societies.
In addition, the Blanquerna Observatory is the leader of the European project ‘Religion in the Shaping of European Cultural Identity‘ (RISECI. ‘The religion in the construction of European Cultural Identity’). The project aims to create a platform for interdisciplinary and cultural dialogue around the legacy of religion in European identity, its role in the European public space and in the construction of its identity. !
