Fr. Andrea Ciucciu on the challenges of Algoretics

On Wednesday the 12th of June, 2024, at the Blanquerna School of Communication and International Relations (URL), the Obs SeminarThe Challenge of Algorethics” was held by Fr. Andrea Ciucciu.

Andrea Ciucci is the General Director of the Pontifical Academy for Life in the Vatican City. His responsibilities include institutional relations and cultural projects. He is also Secretary General of the renAIssance Foundation, a Vatican non-profit organisation whose aim is to support anthropological and ethical reflection on artificial intelligence in human life, promoted by the Pontifical Academy for Life.

During the event, Ciucciu spoke about the fear of artificial intelligence, the characteristics that make AI a global and rapidly evolving phenomenon, and he focused in particular on the Rome Call for AI Ethics, its three sections and the six ethical principles that the document proposes to achieve its goal: a future in which digital innovation and technological progress give humanity its centrality.
