Can faith be transmitted? If it is a gift, what happens to those who don’t have it? This topic was discussed at the Royal Monastery of Pedralbes as part of the series Dialogues on Spirituality: Pedagogies of Spirituality, organized in collaboration with the newspaper ARA and under the intellectual direction and moderation of Dr. Maria del Mar Rosàs i Tosas, professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences (Blanquerna, URL).
In secularized environments such as ours, the chain of transmission of traditional forms of religion is weakening. Nevertheless, many citizens continue to learn and integrate spiritual practices and beliefs. In some cases, they do so through the traditional paths of native or foreign religions. In others, new forms of spirituality are promoted through different mechanisms.
How are religiosity and spirituality learned? Do children and adults learn them differently? What do these new models of transmission tell us about our society? And what role does the Copernican shift currently taking place in pedagogy play?
These questions were discussed by our director, Dr. Miriam Diez Bosch, and professor Dr. Francesc Torralba.
