Dr. Miriam Diez Bosch, Vice-Dean for Research, Knowledge Transfer, Doctoral Studies and International Relations at the Blanquerna School of Communication and International Relations – Ramon Llull University, has joined the Intergroup on Religious Affairs of the Parlament de Catalunya as an expert.
This body, formally established last October, has recently held its first working session with representatives of religious denominations and experts in this field. The intergroup is composed of members of parliament from six parliamentary groups, as well as members of various religious communities and subject-matter specialists.
Dr. Diez, who is also Director of the Blanquerna Observatory on Media, Religion and Culture, joins this space for debate and analysis, which aims to address religious diversity, freedom of conscience, and their impact on parliamentary activity.
The first session included a presentation by the Director General for Religious Affairs, Ramon Bassas, focused on global trends in religion and the specific reality of Catalonia, as well as a round of interventions with the participation of representatives from different religious denominations and invited experts.
The intergroup, coordinated by MP Rosa Maria Ibarra, does not have legislative powers and is conceived as a transversal space for reflection on the management of religious diversity within the institutional sphere. Its creation responds to a longstanding demand from various religious denominations and has been jointly promoted by several parliamentary groups.
