The Catalan newspaper El Punt Avui published this Monday, February 8th, 2021, an opinion piece written by the director of the Blanquerna Observatory on Media, Religion and Culture, Míriam Díez Bosch. The article, under the title “The Perfume of Acceleration” invites the reader to reflect on the accelerated lives we are leaving and Hartmut Rosa’s thinking, professor of political science at the German Friedrich-Schiller University who has become famous for his theories on this said acceleration. His best known work is “Alienation and Acceleration.”

As Rosa outlined his wise thought, another European thinker shared with those present at the table his abilities to recognize people’s perfumes. Maybe that’s why I will always link acceleration to perfume, the speed with which we live with the persistence of good smells.
