On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, the Blanquerna Observatory on Media, Religion and Culture attended the book launch of Vida que et vull viva (Life, I Want You Alive), by Augustinian missionary Paulo Gabriel López, organized by Editorial Claret and the Pere Casaldàliga Foundation. The event took place at Llibreria Claret, gathering an audience interested in spirituality, social commitment, and the missionary experience.
The work, published for the first time in Catalan, collects the life and spiritual diary of Paulo Gabriel, who since 1972 has dedicated his life to accompanying the poorest and most marginalized communities in the peripheries of Brazil. Through its pages, the author offers a direct testimony of faith, devotion, and resilience, deeply marked by daily contact with injustice, exclusion, and hope.
The author participated in the meeting via videoconference from Brazil, sharing his personal experiences and reflecting on the meaning of mission, the preferential option for the poor, and the value of human closeness as the central axis of his pastoral work.
The event also featured Maritxu Ayuso, a member of the Pere Casaldàliga Foundation, and Josep Codina, editorial coordinator at Claret, who contextualized the author’s figure and highlighted the legacy of the Claretian bishop Pere Casaldàliga, with whom Paulo Gabriel collaborated closely for years.
The presentation established itself as a space for reflection on missionary life, embodied spirituality, and commitment to the most vulnerable, in line with the Blanquerna Observatory’s mission to promote dialogue between faith, social justice, and contemporary culture.
