His priorities led him to be the pope of the lowest: people without social or ecclesial recognition saw how the pontiff gave them his time, letters, and phone calls.
Pope Francis, the reformer, leaves in the midst of spring. Of all the images he has left us, the one from last week –greeting, without saying a word, the inmates of a prison, separated only by glass– is deeply moving and eloquent.
