This Monday, April 12th, the Blanquerna Observatory on Media Religion and Culture held the second Reading Seminar on key texts in religion and communication. On this occasion, we have delved into chapters 3, 4 and 5 of Heidi Campbell’s book “Digital Creative and the Rethinking of Religious Authority”, a book that we will be ending in the next session.
The meeting was given by Paula Martí, Lydia Dionís and Sílvia Pascual, members of the Observatory, who focused on the different religious figures that are online and their functions in the digital environment. We want to recall that Campbell’s book seeks to answer the following questions:
- What is a religious authority like on the Internet?
- Is it still exercised by offline leaders and institutions?
- Are denominations hiring digital media experts to modernize their role on the digital platform?
Thus, the Blanquerna Observatory continues with this initiative by teaming up and delving deeper into the environment of religion and communication.
