Students on the post-graduate course ‘Institutional Communication and Religion in the Digital Age’ visited the ‘Sala Stampa della Santa Sedo’, the Vatican Press Office, which reports directly to the Secretariat of State and is run by Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi, who is also Director of the Vatican Television Centre and Vatican Radio. The students also met with the Director of the Vatican Press Office, Father Ciro Benedettini, and the Pontifical Council for Social Communications, chaired by Italian Archbishop Claudio Maria Celli, who spoke to them about new technologies, imagination and communication. The students were introduced to one of the projects of this institution, the Interimirifica.net portal, the first global Catholic directory of communication media, by its creator, the Bolivian journalist Monsignor Ariel Beramendi. Finally, the students were able to visit the facilities of Radio Vaticana, a radio station that currently broadcasts in more than forty languages.
