The 2nd edition of the International Conference on Aporophobia will take place on 24 and 25 October at the IQS university in Barcelona, in which the Blanquerna-URL Observatory participates as co-organizer. The event will bring together experts from different specialties to address one of the great current social challenges: ‘Aporophobia, a term that defines the rejection, fear and disregard towards poor people’.
As in the first congress, it is defended that aporophobia is not just an academic issue, but a real problem that affects the dignity of the most vulnerable people in society, that hinders their lives and the work of the institutions that try to help them, and that this fact magnifies other types of discrimination, such as gender and racial discrimination. The congress aims to be a point of reflection to share experiences and seek solutions to this phenomenon.
Our deputy director, Dr. Alba Sabaté, and Dr. Lana Kazkaz, also a member of Obs, will speak.
