The Blanquerna Observatory on Media, Religion and Culture took part in the third edition of the Gatzara Conference, organised by Bayt al-Thaqafa, which aimed to raise awareness and highlight the value of the Arab legacy in Catalan culture. On 25 April, the meeting “Islam and Christianity: Silence as a shared spiritual practice” was held at Església Sant Pau del Camp, with the participation of Halil Bárcena, an Islamologist specialising in Sufism and director of the Institute of Sufi Studies in Barcelona, and Mireia Poch, a coach and consultant in mindfulness solidarity for professionals and trainer at the World Community for Christian Meditation WCCM. Valentina Laferrara, member of the Blanquerna Observatory, moderated the meeting, which invited interreligious dialogue and reflection on shared values on a spiritual level. Emphasis was placed on the differences between prayer, prayer and meditation in order to discuss the meaning of silence in the traditions of Christianity and Islam, and its implications for human relations.
