In June, we launched the project ‘Religion in the Shaping of European Cultural Identity‘; a project led by the Blanquerna Observatory, supported by the European Union, in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh, the Sigtuna Foundation in Sweden and the Sticna Museum of Christianity in Slovenia. The project aims to create a platform for interdisciplinary and cultural dialogue on the legacy of religion in European identity, its role in the European public sphere and in the construction of its identity(s). The project, which will run until June 2015, will include various activities, exhibitions, congresses and conferences on the triad of identity, religion and culture in Europe. The activities have started with a panel on “Digital Religion and European Cultural Identity”, held within the VII International Congress on Communication and Reality, with the participation of Gaspar Martínez from the University of Deusto, Oriol Poveda from the University of Upsala (Sweden) and the director of the Blanquerna Observatory, Míriam Díez. The next activity will take place in Edinburgh in October and will consist of a conference on pacifism and religion.
