On April 27, 2026, the Blanquerna Observatory on Media, Religion and Culture attended the institutional event celebrating the World Interfaith Harmony Week, held in the Saló de Cent of Barcelona City Hall. The celebration brought together institutional, academic, and religious representatives in a space for dialogue aimed at strengthening coexistence and mutual understanding among the different traditions present in Catalonia.
The event featured the participation of the Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, the President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, and the President of the Stable Working Group on Religions (GTER), Antoni Matabosch, among other civil authorities and representatives from the religious and social spheres.
This year’s edition was dedicated to the relationship between ecology and spirituality, focusing on how different religious and belief traditions address human responsibility in the face of the climate crisis and contemporary environmental challenges. Throughout the event, the potential of religions to promote an ethics of care, sustainability, and shared responsibility toward the planet was highlighted.
The gathering included a panel discussion with specialists from different fields of religious and humanistic thought, who reflected on the connections between spirituality, nature, and a culture of peace. The celebration also included a musical performance that contributed to creating a symbolic space of encounter among the different communities in attendance.
