On Friday, April 4, 2025, the Observatory, represented by Davide Nocca, attended the Urgell Civic Center to participate in the dialogue space “Women and Interreligious Dialogue: Experiences from Barcelona,” promoted by the Department of Interculturality and Religious Pluralism of the Barcelona City Council, the Office of Religious Affairs, and the Interreligious Dialogue Group of Barcelona (GDI). The round table addressed women’s participation in religious dialogue and aimed to highlight and promote the role of women in faith and spiritual practice.
The event consisted of a dialogue among several women from the GDI, who shared their experiences in breaking down stereotypes that still persist between women and religion. The purpose of the gathering was to offer a perspective that contrasts with narratives that tend to marginalize female voices in the religious context, with the aim of moving beyond conventional imaginaries and building an inclusive dialogue.
The round table was moderated by Mónica Cornejo Valle, PhD in Anthropology and professor of Anthropology of Religions at the Complutense University of Madrid, where she also leads the research group Anthropology, Diversity, and Coexistence (GINADYC). Participants in the dialogue included: Elisabeth Lheure, member of the Bahá’í Women’s Association of Barcelona; Mercè Puigdelmàs Vilaró, member of the Protestant Church Barcelona-Center; Carme Ruiz Marquès, member of the Permanent Commission of the coordinating platform Alcem la veu; Fàtima Ahmed, co-founder and president of the Intercultural Association Diàlegs de Dona; and Janaina Minelli de Oliveira Ramos, president of the Centre Espírita Amalia Domingo Soler.
