The Obs in a new project on misinformation and vaccine with Google

The Blanquerna Observatory of Communication, Religion and Culture is a member of the consortium of the new project “Vaccine and Prejudices in the Catholic Community” and will help its development.

Misinformation, vaccine and Catholic media

The initiative aims to combat misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccine, specifically in the Catholic media. The Observatory will be responsible for developing two reports that will analyze the information available on vaccination in this type of media.

Google-funded collective project

Led by and chosen from 11 selected proposals out of a total of 309 submitted, the project will receive funding from the Google News Initiative. The Verificat data verification platform and media such as Catalunya Religió or Religión Digital, among others from around the world, are also among the members of the consortium.

In addition, the project has the participation of a committee of experts from around the world including Dra. Concepción Mestres, dean of the Blanquerna Faculty of Health Sciences and Dr. Francesc Torralba, director of the Ethos Chair at Ramon Llull University. It will be developed within the framework of the STReaM (Society, Technology, Religion and Media) research group.
