On May 13, 2026, the Centre Cívic Cotxeres de Sants hosted the activity “Morir dignament: drets, desigualtats i pràctiques”, an initiative promoted by Espai Avinyó in collaboration with the Oficina d’Afers Religiosos and Barcelona Districte Cultural. The Blanquerna Observatory on Communication, Religion and Culture was present at the event, which invited participants to reflect on the end of life from an intercultural, critical, and rights-based perspective.
The initiative, linked to the exhibition “Vivir bien, Morir bien” by artist Nathalie Rey, addressed the inequalities that shape the experience of death, showing how social, administrative, or religious factors condition access to a dignified death. It also highlighted the lack of social pedagogy regarding one’s own death and support in the grieving process.
The activity also incorporated a perspective on the diversity of religious traditions and funeral rituals, underlining the need for more inclusive services and public policies. The event combined a visit to the exhibition, a roundtable discussion, and a performance, creating a space for dialogue between art, human rights, and cultural plurality.
