On Monday May 19th, 2025, Josep Maria Carbonell, President of the Blanquerna Observatory on Media, Religion and Culture, and Miriam Diez Bosch, Director of this Observatory, took part in the first of the in memoriam round tables organised by Ramon Llull University to pay tribute to the legacy of Pope Francis.
The event, which took place in the library of the Blanquerna School of Communication and International Relations (URL), was titled ‘The influence of Pope Francis in the world: a new style of Vatican diplomacy’. Faculty professor Manuel Manonelles, the President and the Director of the Observatory participated as speakers, while Carlo M. Galluci moderated the event. The speakers discussed Francis’ very different approach to Vatican diplomacy, while also analysing his relevance as a spiritual leader at different critical moments in the geopolitics of recent years.
