Valentina Laferrara moderates the webinar on disability.

On Wednesday 23 February, the webinar “Crossed Gazes: “Disability’ in communication” was held to discuss how journalistic, business, humorous and cinematic communication has an impact on the way society looks at people with functional and intellectual diversity. The meeting was attended by 46 people and focused on the following questions

  • What are the appropriate terms to define this group?
  • Are we able to see the abilities of a person belonging to this group?
  • How can we achieve the normalisation of this group?
  • What is the role of the media, the film industry and companies?

Interventions by: Myriam Posa (PhD in Psychology and Professor at the Blanquerna Health Sciences School (URL)), Judit Mata (PhD in Communication, economist, certifies coach and Professor at Blanquerna School of  Communication and International Relationals (URL)), Mar Rosàs (PhD in Humanities and Professor at the Blanquerna School of Health Sciencies (URL)), Eladio Herranz Frías (Psychologist, actor and author of the book El tercer día: Caminando sobre ruedas), and Judith Colell (Director, scriptwriter, film producer and Director of the Degree in Audiovisual Communication at the Blanquerna School of Communication and International Relations (URL)). The moderator was Valentina Laferrara, journalist, PhD student and researcher at the Blanquerna Observatory on Communication, Religion and Culture. The webinar is a proposal from different research groups linked to the Blanquerna School of Communication and International Relations and the Blanquerna School of Health Sciences (Ramon Llull University).
