The international symposium “Entangled Futures: Ethical, Social, and Philosophical Perspectives on Digitalization and Ecology” will take place on May 14 and 15, 2026, at Blanquerna, Universitat Ramon Llull. The event is co-organized by the Institute for Philosophical and Religious Studies at the Science and Research Centre ZRS Koper and the Blanquerna Observatory on Media, Religion and Culture.
The symposium will feature the participation of the DRIVEN project (Digital Religion, Embodiment, and Immersive Virtual Environments), funded by the European Union through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), represented by Dr. Victoria dos Santos, a member of the Observatory. The symposium will also have the honor of welcoming guest professor Lenart Škof, from ZRS Koper.
This event will bring together around twenty speakers and international experts to reflect on the normative and ethical challenges emerging from the digital and ecological transitions. The symposium aims to foster an interdisciplinary dialogue between philosophical, theological, and sociological perspectives, paying special attention to the critical and emancipatory dimensions of technology and sustainability. Topics to be addressed include the ethical implications of artificial intelligence, social justice in the digital age, and theological responses to the ecological crisis.
