The member of the Blanquerna Observatory, Valentina Laferrara, gave the workshop “learning from social networks” this Thursday and Friday at the ESO of the La Mina High School, located in the urban city of Sant Adrià de Besòs. The sessions promoted by the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed) revolved around the power of the algorithms that operate behind these platforms and their consequent biases of gender, ethnicity, desirability and purchasing power, among others.
