XII Spiritual Cinema Exhibition of Catalonia

Posted on

This Friday begins the XII edition of the Spiritual Cinema Exhibition of Catalonia, that this year will also be available in Girona, Lleida and Tarragona. It is organized by the General Direction of Religious Affairs with the collaboration, this year, of the Filmoteca de Catalunya, Obra Social “la Caixa”, SIGNIS (World Catholic Association for Communication) and AGAPE Europe (evangelic christian organization), among other organizations and religious entities.

The contest will start with the film Timbuktu, commented by the head of the Theological Area of Christianism and Justice Jaume Flaquer. It is one of the fourteen films selected by its interest between the current spiritual and religious productions. This edition’s program includes films which gather the sensibility of some of the different religious confessions as well as films that have as a main thread the dialogue between religion and the current society.

The films, which are subtitled in Catalan, will be accompanied by a presentation by the specialists in the world of cinema and religious diversity, which will lead to a better understanding of the keys of the film and will invite the spectators to think and reflect. In this sense, it is necessary to highlight the implication in the project of several religious entities which work to foment the interfaith dialogue, as well as priest Peio Sánchez, promoter of the Exhibition that continues presenting his invaluable collaboration in the organization of the contest.

With this new edition of the Exhibition, the Govern de la Generalitat bets once again on cinema as an efficient cultural tool to make visible the different religious and spiritual manifestations, contributing this way to our priority of favouring the interfaith dialogue and social cohesion.
